Foodie-Towns-2014-logo-150x150Oh Lisdoonvarna, Lisdoon, Lisdoon, Lisdoon, Lisdoon, Lisdoonavrna, the town in the Burren put to music by Christy Moore, and now  Lisdoonvarna gateway to the Burren has been shortlisted among 9 other top finalists for the grand title of Foodie Town Of  Ireland ……hope you voted,

These are some of the reasons why…Lisdoonvarna distinguishes itself from everywhere else in the country on a number of levels:mckennas plaques

My Burren Beilinime, grainne, and birgittasample producekilshanny beiliniIn a town with less than 900 inhabitants and within a couple of minutes walk from each other, a visitor to Lisdoonvarna will be able to enjoy a diverse range of food and culinary experiences. The world famous Burren Smokehouse in the heart of the town, Fabiola’s Patisserie, Kieran’s Kitchen in the Roadside Tavern, Sheedy’s Hotel and The Wild Honey Inn  with theeir AA-Rosettes for Food and Ireland’s  first ever pub to win a Bib Gourmand, the list goes on.

What defines Lisdoonvarna as a food destination is the cooperation between the food enterprises themselves and in turn between them and the wider community.

The applicant businesses are formally linked with each other in co-operative partnerships on two key levels: they are members of the Burren Ecotourism Network and they are founder members of the Burren Food Trail.carrageen blancmangeeva hegartys display

Some one described it as like being on Dragon’s Den, the questions, the depth of info.required, but we had longer to wait for these judges to tell us our fate, the decision is due at a lavish affair in Dublin on Monday eve.the 9th.June.

We did our best, I think the photographs echo that.
