Had a great night in Hotel Doolin, for the launch of the 2013 Burren Food Trail. We were spoiled with the freshest oysters, smoked salmon and local St. Tola’s cheese on oatcakes and crackers. Elderberry wine from Wine of the Glen, and local beer.
But that was only for starters. While a very funny Ms.Vaughan from the Kilfenora Hostel, looked after presenting the awards, we were treated to Burren lamb, the freshest hake with pea puree and some kind of jus, (the wine was kicking in nicely at that stage) and a divine mini Rhubarb Crumble, with local Linalla ice-cream. We passed the plates around, like a scene from the Waltons and then danced it off to the lively beat of a band called Skazz. I was wearing a green and white gingham shirt, and to my surprise when I went out to take in the night air, I found like minded folk perched on blankets on no other, than straw bales! How apt.
Now I just have to follow the Food Trail……….
