Planting onions in the snow…..

Had a great day in the tunnel with my eager well wrapped up group. We talked about spuds, we put early main crop ”Blue Danube” potatoes chitting in a box with the rose end  facing the sky. They are a blight resistant variety and they are in my kitchen tonight as it’s promised -3° and all the new plants and seeds we got going are tucked up under fleece, in their propagation unit with the heating cables on. We got a few onion sets in, the first time I ever planted in the SNOW! It was good fun though and the promise of my own organic onions and garlic for the year, made it all worth while. Then we had a seed swop, drank some good organic coffee from Guatemala, accompanied by Martha’s lovely cheese spelt scones. Before we parted  company Paul gave me a jar of his famous home-made marmalade divine, can’t wait for breakfast. Thanks everyone for contributing.

We are planning a plant sale for June and will reveal details of the vegetable growing competition we are holding very soon.

Keep warm and safe………OO’D.
