Martha’s Marinade for turning plain olives into something sunny.

Martha's Marinade

Martha’s Marinade

Took myself up the bog road the other evening to Martha and Liam’s, to  have what has become a much loved and looked forward to blogging session with the Bean an TÍ, and brilliant blogger who goes under the name marthaserena.com, check it out.

It was raining (of course) buckets of the stuff, (keeps the dust down we said), trying to justify a days rain in June in the west of Ireland. It did add to the already growthy feel about the place, with wild flowers doing their thing every-where, the heady smell of just emerging Elder Flowers, begging to be picked, and that smell of new rain on wet, that conjures up all sorts of memories.

The light beckoned and soon I was in out of it, surrounded by homely things, sleeping children, and warm company. I was given a choice of fresh nettle tea, or French Cidre, any-one that knows me will know what my choice was, the nettles could wait…………

Well if you saw the two of us, with nothing but praise for each others blogging progress since our last rendezvous,” Look at that photograph, great story, looks brilliant, well done” But sure that’s what keeps us going we agreed, the bouncing off of ideas, the absolute candidness of our discussion, flipping over and back from other popular blogs and doing all sorts of comparisons…….pair of right madams. I’d be lost without our indulgent few hours, be no- where with this blog for sure, so get a good friend who wants to write a blog, brain storm,  and meet up regularly, (French Cidre) optional, it’s therapeutic, invigorating, hugely productive and great fun.

Just don’t steal Martha.

She gave  me the recipe for turning boring jar olives into a a taste of sunny Spain on a rainy evening. Thank you Marts.

Make a marinade from garlic, salt, olive oil and fresh herbs and infuse as above.
